Great reading your travelogues. It's nice to know that I am not the only person who feels that we as Americans are going in such a wrong direction and that we have so much to learn by seeing the world and being humbled by it.
Fair winds and following seas for you,

Hello John,
Talked to Jim the other day and he said you asked about me--thanks--maybe I wouldn't want to hear what he had to say.
Have enjoyed following your voyage---must be wonderful in Australia. I had author Steve Isham from Tasmania visit my school and present a program to all grades. He was very interesting and I enjoyed chatting with him.
Keep safe.

Oh my Gawd! Look what a little ol' internet search for "John Rand" and "Pacific" turned up! You fabulous thing--of *course* you are sailing the world with a wonderful woman looking for a better way to live. I just loved seeing all the pictures of you two--all smiles of course--against the backdrop of clear, blue skies with drinks in hand. Fabulous, dearheart. I am so happy for you! It has been years, of course, so I'll not update here (we must catch up sometime and I'll tell you of husband and little sprout and fun-filled life as southern mama), but in the meantime I'll just check in every now and again and read the words of the wise and worldly on this page. Have fun you two! Oh and Heather--congratulations on landing ol' Jack--I don't have to tell you what a splendid person he is! Would love to meet you someday.
Much love,
Sara

Hear you're nearing "civilization" and am wondering how that will feel after all your time wandering the planet. We've got ourselves one hell of a mess with a presidential election about a month out. Incredible that anyone could vote for Dubya after all the deception, corruption, havoc, and death he has wrought on the planet.
Am missing you and planning the next dinner party. Can't wait to see you.
Much love,
Mamalina

Hey guys. I've been enjoying the progress reports - it sounds like you're having a great time! Maybe I _should_ have sailed ol' Physeter a bit farther than Catalina - you never know what you're gonna see!
You're certainly not missing much being away from Dutch. Cold, cloudy weather, and a bit of rain - summer out here just isn't all it's cracked up to be. Good times though. Be safe out there,
Paul.

Dearest babies...loved and special ones......yes, you will always be our special babies.......we are sitting on the back porch...Cassie ensconced on a pillow, our wine glasses in hand, and ....silly Saturday night smiles on our faces....Ray Charles (tributes tonight) on the radio instead of the usual Lake Wobegon and Kerrison....we are so not cool but we have great reasons for celebration tonight.........Can you believe it, ya'll have crossed the Pacific, some 3000 miles, in only a 32 foot boat, with your determination, skills carefully developed on the high seas...love for each other and each other's passion and passions..good job....well done.... You both are such a point of pride....Thanks for being you, for being so strong, for being so adventure-some, for being true to your convictions and your dreams....I hope you can find a birth on terra firma for tonight's rest, some good fruit and fish to ward off scurvy or rickets, and a safe harbor for Dancyn...we love you, are thinking of you fondly.... and with great pride...love and kisses, momma and boyd

Hola, Ninos,
Reading your blog, tracking your boat, trying to imagine your experience.
Have you heard about the new low-CARB diet due out later this year?
NO Cheney
NO Ashcroft
NO Rumsfeld
NO Bush
and absolutely NO Rice!
Just read of a pirate attack between Panama and the Galaps; glad to hear you're traveling in a pack.
You are two very brave people. I love you. Be safe.
