 Passage to Hawaii
The first week was too rough to fish, but once we hit the light winds near the equator, we were reeling 'em in like mad.

Equator crossing. We spent the first week battling galing headwinds, the 2nd week fighting everythings from squalls to no wind. There had been a late season hurricane in the North Pacific and consequently the winds were sucked out of the sky. We expected to find the northern hemishere tradewinds around 9-10 degrees N, but didn't find them until 13-14 degrees N. Slow going.

We had a fleet of these little bullets follow us for days. John caught and released about 10 in a row. Perfect chomping size.

Molokai island. After 19 days, we spotted our first speck of land, the Big Island of Hawaii. At this point, we are less than 12 hours from Oahu. The winds were unusually light so we were able to go windward of the chain.

Koko crator on Oahu. After months of country-bumpkin living, Honolulu was a shock to the senses. We coped by immediately getting stuffed on pizza and beer our first night in town. Total trip time was just over 21 days.
